Check safe alternatives
Check whether a trusted household member or keyholder has a spare. Do not climb through unsafe windows or force the door, as damage can cost more than professional entry.
Ask for pricing before dispatch
Describe the door and lock, send a photograph if possible and ask for the attendance charge plus the likely price range. Confirm when additional work would require your approval.
Proof of residence
A responsible locksmith may ask for identification or evidence that you are entitled to enter. If your documents are inside, agree how you will provide evidence once access is restored.
Prices are broad UK planning estimates, not quotations. Actual charges vary by location, urgency, scope, access, materials and provider. Always review the confirmed price and terms before work starts.
